If you didn't already know, for a total of seven weeks I'll be interning at a fashion PR firm. It's such an amazing opportnity and I've learned so much already. I feel like such a baby because all the other interns are either graduated or graduating from college in the coming months. They think it's crazy that I'm only 19 and living in the city alone! It was pretty scary at first but I've gotten used to it.
Funny story about the picture above with the pizza: My boss ordered pizza for everyone at work (and, oh man, it was YUMMY). I was nervous because I was trying so hard not to get pizza juices everywhere, because I was surrounded by DESIGNER CLOTHES AND SHOES. That would be my luck- that my first week of work I ruin a $2000 dress because I couldn't resist the pizza.
If I've heard it once, I've heard it a million times... Wear comfy shoes in NYC! Especially if you're sightseeing. Today we explored the area by the Flatiron Building and then walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. So. Much. WALKING! But I'm not complaining, I had to burn off all those treats somehow. Once you've made it across the Brooklyn Bridge, eat at Juliana's or Grimaldi's. They are owned by the same people and it's the best pizza...I'm serious!
The first week I was in NYC it was a dedicated girls trip. It was so much fun! We came to celebrate finishing (more like surviving) our first year of college. I didn't know any of these girls before I started school last fall... And boy do I feel blessed to have MET them. We all have a shared love for fashion and the Kardashians, so naturally, our first stop was to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. When we went, it was just a few days after the iconic Met Gala. Yeah, we DID find the same spot Kim K. did took a photoshoot in her gold Versace dress (I tried to pose just like her... Let's just say, she did it better).

May in Kentucky is just as good, if not better than Christmas. Unless you've experienced all the parades, festivals, concerts, fairs, and fireworks that lead up to the Kentucky Derby, you'll just have to take my word for it! I may not know a lot about athletics, but, if there's one thing I do, it's that the Kentucky Derby is the best 2 minutes in sports... Hands down! The whole state fancies up and heads to Churchill Downs to cheer on their favorite horses. I mean, what other sport can you get all dolled up for?!
This year, mine and my sister's friends traveled to KY for the glorious day. We spent hours picking out our outfits, decorating our hats, and perfecting our hair and makeup. Because we have SUBURB luck, this year's Derby was said to be the "Wettest Derby in History." And don't I believe it. It was POURING! All of our hats were ruined by the end of the day... Luckily, we did our photoshoots *before* the downpour.
NEW NAME MEANS NEW INSTA!
My name is Emma Engilman. The goal of my blog is to encourage self confidence and stray away from societies definition of "beauty." I refuse to retouch my appearance in Photoshop, so enjoy my flaws because they make me-- me!
