Hello, everyone! This weekend I got to go to junior prom, yay! It was such a blast. As a high schooler, this is the night that everyone looks forward to. You want it to be perfect, don't you? That's exactly why I'm sharing my experiences getting ready at Sephora and the DryBar, and a few of my favorite unique prom dresses.
Sephora Makeover Review
I was honestly so nervous about getting my makeup done. If you know me, you know that I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my makeup. I've heard horror stories about the makeup artists making their clients look orange, or using extreme eyeshadow colors. Ah! Wouldn't that be horrible on prom night?
When I got to Sephora I showed my makeup artist, Erin Morton, exactly what I wanted. I told her that I was absolutely terrified and that she better not mess up!! Haha. I was looking for a natural look, and that's exactly what I got. Erin did a fantastic job. While she was doing my makeup we started talking, and I learned a lot about her and Sephora. Erin has been a makeup artist in New York Fashion Week for years, and has done makeup for Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and countless other shows. So cool, right? She told me about Sephora, and how they only hire people that have worked with makeup and have gone to school to become professionals in the industry. Sephora will not let their employees color match you or do a makeover unless they've been certified. I think that's awesome for Sephora; I really like their policies.
Should you go to Sephora for your prom makeup? YES. They do an impeccable job. Makeovers are free with any $50 purchase. You can book an appointment online, or on the Sephora app. If you're in Louisville-- don't forget to request to have your makeup done by Erin at the Oxmore Center Sephora!
I was so excited to go to the DryBar to have my hair done. I've heard nothing but good things about their services. The DryBar is a salon that does no cuts, and no colors-- it's merely hairstyling. They are famous for their unique technique when it come to blow drying your hair, and their notable line of hair products. They blowdried, curled, and put one braid in my hair and it cost $50. Honestly, I think it is super over priced for what you're getting. The customer service was amazing, don't get me wrong, but I could have curled my hair at home and would have saved $40. The braid itself was an extra $10, and I ended up taking it out as soon as I got in the car.
Something the DryBar advertises is that after their done, you can go 3-7 days without washing your hair, and it will still look good. I tried this out, and while it may seem crazy, it's true! I went three days without washing my hair and each day it felt as if my hair was fresh out of the salon. You know the feeling right after you get your hair cut and it's still soft and silky? That's what it was like! Awesome, right?!
Overall, I think the DryBar is an awesome experience and I definitely recommend trying it at least once. It is super overpriced, so if you go I wouldn't recommend getting a braid. I've tried a few of their products at home, and those are incredible-- definitely buy those! They are available at Sephora.
SOME OF MY FAVORITE PROM DRESSES...
