SHop the look
Hello everyone! As you may have seen on Instagram and Snapchat, I was in New York City this past week. It was so much fun-- honestly we had a blast. Because there is too much to share in only one blog post, I will be writing about everything we did and posting it over the next few weeks. Don't forget to check back in to see all of the exciting places we went!
My friend, Grace, and I were in NYC for a fashion program at LIM college called The Summer Fashion Lab. It's a wonderful program for those of you interested in aspects of fashion other than design: styling, blogging, business, PR, marketing, forecasting, etc. We took the class on styling, and at the end of the week we styled for a photoshoot that will be shopped in a magazine... I'd share pictures, but it is top secret!
Okay, now for the fun stuff... Our time in Soho!
Soho is such a unique neighborhood and if you're going to the city you should definitely check it out. The shopping is out of this world. There are all kinds of stores such as Brandy Melville, Zara, and & Other Stories, but also Chanel... It really is the best of both worlds. There are also street vendors everywhere that are fun to bargain with. I got the sunglasses above for $5! Don't get me started on the thrift/vintage stores. They are incredible! Honestly, any thrift store you go to in NYC will definitely have some pretty good stuff, but don't expect to get a steal on designer handbags... Yes, Chanel bags are still wayyy over my budget, like $3000 over... :(
The food is also incredible. But, honestly, you won't regret any food you eat in NYC. I'm afraid to step on the scale, ha! We ate at the CUTEST hole in the wall called Jack's Wife Freda. Holy. Crap. It was amazing. I ate a cheeseburger (I ate a burger a day... Oops!) and fries, and I do not regret it. So yummy! There are also yummy dessert places everywhere, of course I had to find them! Laduree is one of my favorites, actually probably everyone's favorite. The best macaroons I've ever had. If you're a gossip girl fan you'll know that these are the macaroon Blaire Waldorf eats while in the bathtub. If Blaire likes them, you know their good!
My name is Emma Engilman. The goal of my blog is to encourage self confidence and stray away from societies definition of "beauty." I refuse to retouch my appearance in Photoshop, so enjoy my flaws because they make me-- me!
